THE WEEK IN: FOUR THINGS.

  1. For this week’s foray into the struggle that is “mom brain”, we’ll continue with our car theme. Earlier this week, during that special hour or so before bedtime when Knox is exhausted and slap-happy and thus requires constant entertainment, I gave him my car keys as an exciting new distraction while we waited for Dad to come home from work. Two minutes later, I heard a honk from downstairs in the driveway but thought nothing of it, really. Then there was another. And another. And I’m terribly confused, wondering who the heck is honking outside, when I finally realize it’s my child. Locking the car repeatedly. And it’s honking at us from the garage. Mom-brain. Also, I lost my car keys this week, while I was driving the car. I knew that damn keyless ignition would get me some time, and it finally happened. It took a solid 5-10 minutes of sitting in the parking lot searching before I located them (in a rogue pocket of the diaper bag, of course) and we finally got to exit the vehicle.
  2. After a year of voracious, guilt-ridden meat-eating (thanks, pregnancy cravings), I’m finally transitioning back into the world of vegetarianism. I see many homemade veggie burger recipes in the future. You’ve been warned.
  3. The stars aligned, pigs flew and West Elm had a legitimate sale on furniture this week, which means that after months and months of stalking their website, we finally hit purchase on our beautiful new couch. I’m still dying a little bit on the inside over how much it cost though, so we may or may not just sit on the floor and admire its beauty from a safe distance once it arrives.
  4. I’m not sure what’s come over me, but I want to buy all of the floral embroidered shirts lately. All of them. See above ensemble as proof.
